KMITL Space Hub Chumporn for Plasma Bubble Detection Technology

Earth is a dynamic, living, breathing planet that is filled with many curiosities and scientific phenomena. Such natural occurrences include Plasma Bubbles,
an ionospheric disruption in space weather which causes breaks in GPS signals and radio frequencies.
These breaks affect industries including Air, Space, Communications, Logistics and can potentially cause dangerous accidents as a result of the disruption in location and signaling accuracy.

Understanding the huge burden that plasma bubbles have on major industries that drive our economy,
the KMITL Space Hub in Chumporn has dedicated its efforts to conduct research and be the HUB for international and local partners to advance in areas related to Space Economy.

As we are 1 of only 4 in the world, our center is world renowned for its location and access to the Plasma Bubble phenomena.
With our geographical location, global collaborators and researchers join us for high impact research and development of sustainable solutions.

We’ll be sharing some of our latest findings in this series and hope to invite future collaborators to participate in upcoming events at the KMITL Space Hub Chumporn.

ปรากฏการณ์ Plasma Bubble เป็นความผิดปกติที่เกิดในชั้นบรรยากาศทำให้เกิดการรบกวนสัญญาณดาวเทียมมีผลกระทบต่อระบบการสื่อสาร การระบุตำแหน่งนำทาง (GPS)
ทำให้ความแม่นยำลดลง ซึ่งจะนำไปสู่อุบัติเหตุและความเสียหายในอุตสาหกรรมต่าง ๆ ทั้งด้านอวกาศ การเดินอากาศ การนำร่องอากาศยาน การสื่อสาร โลจิสติกส์ ระบบการป้องกันภัย และอีกมากมาย ที่ต้องพึ่งพาเทคโนโลยีนี้

จากผลของปรากฏการณ์ Plasma Bubble ที่กระทบต่ออุตสาหกรรมหลักในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจของประเทศ ทำให้เกิดความพยายามในการศึกษาวิจัยเรื่องนี้ที่ KMITL Space Hub ชุมพร
ซึ่งอยู่ภายใต้วิทยาลัยอุตสาหกรรมการบินนานาชาติ (IAAI) ตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่วิทยาเขตชุมพรเขตรอุดมศักดิ์ จังหวัดชุมพร เป็นศูนย์เรียนรู้วิจัยนวัตกรรมและเทคโนโลยีอวกาศ

สำหรับที่ตั้งทางภูมิศาสตร์ของ KMITL Space Hub ชุมพร เป็นพื้นที่ที่ดีที่สุดเป็น 1 ใน 4 แห่งของโลก สำหรับการตรวจจับและพยากรณ์ ปรากฎการณ์ Plasma Bubble
ที่จะรบกวนการแพร่กระจายคลื่นวิทยุในบริเวณใกล้เคียง ที่นี่จึงเป็นศูนย์กลางความร่วมมือของนักวิจัยจากทั่วโลกในการค้นคว้าวิจัยพัฒนาเทคโนโลยีและนวัตกรรมอวกาศร่วมกัน
